5g internet in bangladesh

Other growing technologies in the world, mobile network technology is constantly being updated. And as part of this update, the Fifth Generation or 5G data network is revolutionizing the Internet worldwide.

A standard 4G connectivity can offer a maximum speed of 100 M bps. Where 5G Beta Seapod is capable of reaching 10 Gbps which is almost 100 times faster than 4G. In addition, the Forge Network has a command response time of 50 milliseconds while the Five-G is capable of responding to the same command in less than 1 millisecond.

Countries ranging from South Korea to China, Japan, USA, UK, Switzerland and the Philippines are already using the Five-G network. In addition, several countries like India and Australia are building their own 5G network infrastructure.

Recently, on 12 December 2021, BTRC Dhaka Radisson Blu Hotel launched the initial launch of the Bangladeshi 5G network in collaboration with the state-owned mobile operator Teletalk.

The journey of mobile internet in Bangladesh started in the 2000's mainly with the help of some local mobile operators. However, at that time companies were very slow to provide second generation GPRS and EDGE internet.

Besides, the number of mobile internet users was very low at that time. The main reasons for this were unavailability of rural area network, high court, poor service, lack of proper infrastructure and shortage of smartphone users. Since then, other mobile operators have been launching 3G service launches.

According to a BTRC data source, the number of mobile internet subscribers in February 2012 was around three crore. Which reached seven and a half crore in January 2016. With the introduction of 4G internet in Bangladesh in February 2016, the number of users on mobile internet started increasing.

As a result, in October 2021, the number of users reached about 12 million. Chinese multinational technology corporation HUAWEI had a significant contribution in launching Bangladesh 3G and 4G services.

5G impact in Bangladesh

According to TBS News, Huawei has been working with ICT industry telecom operators and local partners in Bangladesh for over 21 years. Huawei has been providing 2G, 3G and 4G network infrastructure as well as technological equipment to mobile operators like Robi, Airtel and Grameenphone.

On the other hand, if the capacity of mobile internet increases, communication between people through social media and audio video calls will increase. Development, cash and other mobile banking services and fintech platforms are starting to get attracted.

Besides, e-commerce platforms like Daraj, Chaldal, Rokmari, Bagdum are becoming popular. High speed mobile internet enables local and international OTT platforms like Netflix, Banga, Bioscope, Trophy to get massive user base. However, the latest version of the mobile internet, Five-G, has now been introduced globally.

According to a report in The Daily Star, 180 out of 600 telecom operators worldwide have launched their 5G services by 2020. Currently, more than 1 billion users worldwide are using the 5G network, which is expected to increase to 2.5 by 2022. 5Bangladesh has long wanted to enter the era of 5G internet and recently launched 5G network.

According to a source in Financial Express, BTRC has been working on this project since 2016. That year the company ran a trial with Huawei. Where Robi participates as a mobile operator. Later in 2020 Huawei participated in the Digital Bangladesh Fair. At the Huawei Pavilion, visitors get the opportunity to experience 5G internet at gigabit speeds for free.

In addition, the company organized a robot exhibition where an interactive humanoid robot could play scars by following the hand gesture command. This event showcases how much communication between humans and machines will improve with 5G technology.

Huawei is currently leading the market with approximately 3000 5G technology patents for global 5G network development due to advanced technology equipment and infrastructure. Just months before the 5G soft launch, an agreement was signed between Huawei and Teletalk at the office of state-owned mobile operator Teletalk.

Simultaneously with Teletalk, Huawei runs 5G network tests in several areas of Dhaka. Where in case of single user 1.5 Gbps internet speed and lightness of 8 to 10 milliseconds is recorded. Finally, on December 12, 2021, BTRC was able to successfully launch the 5G software.

According to the agreement, Huawei provided Teletalk with the required chip sets, software, and devices. 5G service is available. Initially users who have 5G enabled devices will be able to use this telecom service by converting their Teletalk 4G SIM to 5G network.

The Bangladesh government has already allocated 60 MHz of spectrum for free to Teletalk and plans to organize a 5G spectrum option for other mobile operators in March 2022. The government is planning to launch home-made 5G enabled phones in the same month.

According to the Dhaka Tribune, Teletalk has already created five sites for Five-G. The new 5G technology will have a more positive impact on the day to day life and business of the people of the country on the fast internet.

Users will be able to communicate with each other faster than before. It will also bring 5G network revolution in entertainment and gaming at individual level. The Gaming Intagista 5G network offers seamless gaming experience due to higher internet speeds and loneliness.

In addition, the use of AR, VR will enhance the online gaming experience. Along with entertainment and gaming, the brick tech industry will also grow significantly due to 5G internet.

Ordinary students will have easy access to local brick tech as well as international platforms. And a positive impact on the total education system can be noticed. In addition to this, upcoming technologies like Metaverse which require high speed internet to use 5G will also make them easier to use. The easy use of domestic and international OTT platforms and formulas will further increase the general public. Broadband internet has not yet reached that level, especially in rural areas due to poor infrastructure. With the provision of 5G internet in these areas, the people there will be able to easily connect with the best online services. Even this technology has the potential to transform the entire healthcare industry. In 2019, for the first time, China was able to successfully complete 5G-based B-remote surgery on the human brain. 5G technology can play a pivotal role in the healthcare sector of Bangladesh. Emergency Situations Providing medical services in rural areas of the country is still a daunting task. Although there are several app based medical service providers in Bangladesh.

But in many cases it is difficult to ensure proper health care through these apps in rural areas due to the problem of internet seaped. However, through the 5G network, these health care platforms of the country will be able to provide faster and efficiently existing services as well as add some new service systems. In addition, industrial operations and maintenance in the shipping port and RMG sector of the country can bring efficient use of 5G Nable Electrical Equipment and Machinery. In addition, 5G technology will bring more efficiency in personal and commercial security surveillance. It is expected that a smart ecosystem or digital society or smart city framework will be implemented after completion of 5G technology implementation at individual and industrial level. From home use gadgets to personal vehicles and all services used in daily life will be digitally interconnected. This will help Smart City to move towards different parts of Bangladesh in future. According to Kevin Xu, Chief Technology Officer, Huawei Bangladesh, the adoption of 3G and 4G networks has had such an impact on the daily lives of ordinary people. After the addition of this Five-G network, a massive change can be noticed in the overall economy of Bangladesh as well as the general public.
